Been a while since I posted on the blog…seasons are changing and it’s too nice to be not be outside (when it’s not windy)! The birds are back, waking us up at 6 AM on the dot every morning. Spring is in the air, and wind is blowing through my hair. Okay, enough of that.
We’ve been busy riding the bikes and starting Spring cleaning. We have a lot of junk in the house. It seems like it multiplies because every time we throw a bunch of stuff out, there’s even more to go through.
Did a solo in Juan Tabo this week after leading Lisa, Mitch, Randy and Shawn through there a couple days earlier. Weather stopped the group ride short, so I was determined to finish it this past week. Thursday was the day, as the wind had finally stopped blowing and the sun was out. It was beautiful, and the Intense helped me remember what it was like to go downhill on technical, rocky sections of treacherous trail.
Santa Fe is in excellent condition! The weekend after riding with Sue and the gals, I did a solo in the same area, starting from the St. John’s parking lot, heading up the new trail after Dorothy Stewart, then doing the South/Central/North Dale Ball networks. Talk about a fun ride! Then this weekend Matt and I went back to Santa Fe again and I got to ride Atalaya! That’s one steep climb! Matt took off on Dorothy Stewart Trail first, then he planned to catch me on the Atalaya climb. He did all right, especially since I thought I was at the “top” less than 1/2 way through the climb. So I wasn’t thinking, I should have known there was more to go…what’s new. It’s hard when you can barely breath, okay?!?
Some views as we were coming down from the top of Atalaya…
Bok, bok, bok, bok, bok, bok, bok, bok……there’s some STEEP stuff on the way back down.
Today was a cruise through the Foothills, North to South and back again, back mostly on pavement due to weather…of course it cleared up when I got home.
Time for more Spring cleaning…

Nice riding with ya! Yeah, you got a little too confident on Atalaya and though it was a quick ascent! That false peak does have a nice view though!
Sure, great views! Too bad I let my heart rate drop down to a resting rate while enjoying those views.
I’ll be looking forward to more Atalaya climbs!
