Last Chica Ride
February 5, 2008 by ojulius
Hooked up with the gals for a Foothills ride…my last for a while, although once the daylight starts extending more into the evening and I’m in town, I’ll most likely be seeing these ladies again for some fun rides after work!
Lisa and I took off from the house, headed up Dan’s trail and then towards the South Foothills. Great riding, but a little muddy in spots. We hit it at a pretty good pace with no real stops (other than to strip off the layers) along the way. Oh, and one stop to say hi to Bonnie and Mary.
Got to the South, and ran into Zach, Susan and a couple of their friends. They’re doing another Mariposa ride today in their neck of the woods. We then ended up picking up Denise and Sandra and their friend Dan on the trail, eventually we added on Jen and Anne! Everyone just jumped onto the conga line, and the pack grew and grew.
The day turned out to be quite nice with the sun coming out to warm us enough that a short sleeved jersey, shorts and some knee warmers would have been enough. A tad muddy in spots, but for the most part, the trails were great, especially in the South.
Just checked the weather in the new town…100% chance of snow today. Am I nuts to be heading out there?!? I’m sure I’ll be glad once summer comes around.
Glad I bought some snow shoes this winter. They’ll come in handy for a while.
Ended the day with some brew and food at Turtle Mountain. Got to see a bunch of BWR there after they’d completed the pre-ride for the San Ysidro Dirty Century. Most got 84+ miles in. Lizz and John did the ride on a tandem! Impressive.
The official ride is March 15, come join us!
