Our little girl is 1 year old today. Time has flown by so quickly. I still think of her as my little baby until I see moms toting around their newborns and then I realize she’s now a toddler.
We were in Albuquerque earlier this week, and one of our friends, Lisa Wishard, brought by a little gift for Jia Li.
Lisa’s daughter, Josephine, used to ride this bike. It came straight from Germany from one of our Big Wheel Racing team mates, Michael Cleveland. Jia Li was all over the bike when she saw it. I think she’s going to have fun with this when she gets bigger!
Our friend Tanya Ober hosted a birthday party for Jia Li last night. Thanks to Tanya for the party, and thanks to all of our friends who came to celebrate! Jia Li wasn’t a total mess with her cake, but of course we didn’t provide her with a ton of nasty frosting to make things worse than they had to be. Interestingly, Jia Li had more fun stabbing her cupcake with the candle that was in it rather than actually eating it. We broke it up into smaller pieces and she did manage to eat some after that.
We’ve had a bit of cold weather lately, so Jia Li has been bundling up. She hates wearing hats. I need one of those hats that snaps under the chin so she can’t rip it off quite so easily.
This week the snow really came down. Perfect timing! Jia Li got to experience her first snow on her birthday! At first she didn’t know what to think, but once she got into it, she loved it!This photo is right outside our doorstep.
We went to the park and played on the playground. All the snow made for a totally fun, new experience.

Jia Li went walking through some soft snow and sank down to her hips. She put out her two front hands and down the arms went into the snow. I thought she was going to get upset, but instead, she plunged her face into the snow and came up giggling with a mouthful of snow. Too cute!
